New Blog Entries

Two new blog entries, the first an update of "Nobody Gives a Damn About the Constitution Anymore," discussing the travesties of justice outside the conventions. What happened outside the Democratic and Republican National Conventions was disgusting, but it certainly wasn't unexpected. This is an update of the warning I wrote in late 2004, when I saw what was coming. The second entry is a discussion of a long-overdue Democratic response to Republican attack politics.

Almost Complete

The site is nearly complete. All that's left is a "Contact" page, and based on past experience, I may want to play around with a few Captcha programs before I post that one - Too many spambots get my address and even with good filtering, I end up spending too much time sorting.

New Blog Entry: Pearl Jam

Still an incredible live show after eighteen years -
Pearl Jam's performance at the VH-1 2008 Rock Honors tribute to The Who sparked a reflection. Comparing a video clip of early shows set to "Even Flow" to their incredible performance of "Love Reign O'er Me," I realized that even if age makes rafter climbing stage dives more difficult, they remain the best live band in rock because of their incredible musicianship. Watch the clips posted and realize why Rolling Stone labeled Stone Gossard and Mike McCready "The Four Armed Monster" in their 2007 list of the top 20 active guitar gods, and understand that this band, with the vocal range and power of Eddie Vedder, will be placed in the company of their idols The Who, Neil Young, The Ramones, and others after their (hopefully far in the future) retirement.

See the full show and supplementary material at VH-1's Rock Honors The Who site.

New Blog, Book Review Posted

I've begun using Nucleus engine, a better system for frequent blogging than iWeb, so you can expect more frequent entries to my blog - singular now, too difficult to maintain different blogs - than before. It's pretty slick, and can be reached easily from the menus or from http://blog.cbberg.info. I've also posted a new book review, The Symbolic Uses of Politics, by Murray Edelman, found at http://cbberg.info/books.html. More occasionally, as I get the time.
